TRAINING - METASPHERE UMS (FORMERLY UC9000) ADMINISTRATION AND TROUBLESHOOTING

Goals

At the end of this course you should be able to:

  • Identify the products that make up the MetaSphere product suite and explain where the Unified Messaging Server (UMS) fits.
  • Describe the role of UMS in a normal phone call.
  • Configure MetaSwitch subscribers to use the UMS feature.
  • Use the UMS configuration interfaces that a subscriber will use to set up their features.
  • Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on the MetaSphere UMS platform.

Course Summary

This one day course focuses on the features and function of the MetaSphere UMS platform. Unified Messaging is covered both as a subscriber feature and as a business group feature. Participants will learn what functionality is offered by each component. Concepts are presented and reinforced with plenty of hands-on lab activities to build skills and confidence.

Prerequisite Knowledge

You should attend the MetaSwitch System Overview course before attending this course.

Note: The course depends on each student being able to access the MetaSwitch Portal using an individual username and password. Please be sure you have a username/password to access the portal prior to attending class. You can get the required information from your CSE or account manager.

Daily schedule

The MetaSphere UMS Administration and Troubleshooting training course is a full one day course starting at 9 AM and running until 5 PM. Please be sure to make travel plans accordingly.

Important: Please note that, with the introduction of MetaSphere SDP, this course will not be offered beyond the currently scheduled dates.

Course content

The course is split into the following modules.

  • M1 Introduction to the MetaSphere Server Suite
    The first module introduces participants to the full MetaSphere suite. This includes:
    • Unified Messaging Server
    • Stand-Alone CommPortal
      • Self-care GUI
      • Adding services
    • Auto Attendant
    • Conferencing
    • Music On Hold
    • Privacy Defender
       
  • M2 Introduction to MetaSphere Unified Messaging System (UMS)
    This section provides an introduction to the UMS platform and includes topics such as:
    • UMS Overview
    • Adding Mailboxes
    • How a customer uses UMS
    • Telephone User Interface
    • Webmail on the UMS
    • CommPortal and the UMS
    • Family Accounts on the UMS
       
  • M3 - Advanced Unified Messaging System Concepts
    This section takes a deeper look into the UMS from the standpoint of building business groups and other topics to include:
    • Business Groups on the UM
    • Server Architecture
    • UM Monitor Interface
    • Craft and Command Line Interfaces
    • Troubleshooting
       
  • M4 - Introduction to CommPortal
    This section explains the CommPortal interface and how it operates with the UMS. Topics in this section include:
    • CommPortal Dashboard
    • Working with Messages via CommPortal
    • Setup in the MetaSwitch
    • CommPortal Branding
