TRAINING - INTRODUCTION TO METASWITCH FEATURES AND APPLICATIONS

Introduction

MetaSwitch MarketVisions is a unique program offering a package of resources and services to support growth in various areas such as business expansion into new regions, new customer markets and/or providing additional enhanced services to the existing customer base in the face of increasing competition.

Introduction to MetaSwitch Features and Applications aims to empower product managers and customer facing staff with a comprehensive understanding of the residential and business features and capabilities of MetaSwitch from a less technical perspective, but with a hands-on approach, including demonstration through TUI and CommPortal interfaces.

Armed with this information, product managers, sales, marketing, and customer support staff can be better prepared to develop, market, sell, and support more robust product bundles that leverage the complete capabilities of MetaSwitch and MetaSphere.

Aims

  • To provide a review of how MetaSwitch fits into the PSTN and the types of services that are available from the MetaSwitch and MetaSphere platforms
  • To provide a comprehensive understanding of the individual subscriber and Centrex features available on MetaSwitch
  • To provide a comprehensive understanding of the features available on MetaSphere.

Daily schedule

The Introduction to MetaSwitch Features and Applications training course is a 2 day course. It runs from 9am to 5pm each day.

Course Content

The course is split into the following modules:

  • M1 Introduction and Course Objectives
    This module gives a broad overview of how the MetaSwitch fits into the PSTN and the types of services that are available:
    • What a CLASS 5 Switch does
    • Where the MetaSwitch fits into the network
    • Individual Subscriber Services
    • Hosted PBX (Centrex) Services
    • CommPortal
    • Unified Messaging
    • Privacy Defender
    • Auto-Attendant
    • Conferencing
    • Music on Hold
       
  • M2 Individual Subscriber Services
    The services that are available to residential lines are detailed and demonstrated. These services are grouped into: Call Forwarding Services, Caller ID Services, Incoming Call Services, Messaging Services, Multi-Party, Off-Premise Extension, Outgoing Call Service, Distinctive Ring (Teen Line) Services, and Web Services.
     
  • M3 Hosted PBX (Centrex) Services
    The services that are available to Hosted PBX (Centrex) lines are detailed. Almost all features available to Individual Lines are available to Hosted PBX lines, the differences are detailed. The difference in service delivery when SIP business phones and POTS phones is covered. The services examined include: Simulated Facility Groups, Intercom Dialling, Distinctive ringing for incoming calls, Multiple Appearance Directory Numbers (MADNs), Call Pickup Groups, Call Park, Call Transfer, Line State Monitoring, Shared Line Appearance, Multi-Line Hunt Groups and Incoming Call Queuing.
     
  • M4 CommPortal for Individual Lines
    CommPortal is a highly customizable web-based interface that allows users to retrieve their voice-mail, set policies for accepting incoming calls, view and control the Call Services on their lines and optionally subscribe to new features.
     
  • M5 Unified Messaging
    This gives an introduction to what Unified Messaging is and the services it can deliver to individual and Hosted PBX subscribers.
     
  • M6 Privacy Defender
    Privacy Defender allows Telemarketer calls without Caller ID to be screened and reviewed before they are connected. Rejected calls automatically inform the calling party to add the number to their 'do not call' list.
     
  • M7 Auto-Attendant
    Auto-Attendant is very customizable and is available to Hosted PBX customers. Auto-Attendant allows users to access company directories to dial selected users and allows departments to provide customized greetings and call-delivery fan out.
     
  • M8 Music on Hold
    Music on Hold is available to Hosted PBX customers and supports a combination of customizable music and/or announcements to be played when an incoming call is on hold or waiting in a queue.
     
  • M9 Conferencing
    Conferencing supports on-demand conferencing with a Web based interface to monitor and control the conference participants.
     
  • M10 Services available in Q1-2008
    The services that will be GA in the next release, including CommPortal Assistant, CommPortal for Business Users, Live Message Screening, and integration with IMAP email clients (e.g. Microsoft Outlook and Mozilla Thunderbird).
