TRAINING - METASPHERE SDP ADMINISTRATION AND TROUBLESHOOTING

Course Summary

Two day course focused on the features and function of the MetaSphere SDP Unified Messaging platform. Unified Messaging is covered both as a subscriber feature and as a group feature. Participants will learn what functionality is offered by each component. Sections include student hands-on exercises to build skills and reinforce key concepts. This course is meant for all System Administrators and those individuals troubleshooting and/or monitoring the operation of the server suite deployed as part of their MetaSwitch solution.

Prerequisite Knowledge

Attendance of the MetaSwitch System Overview course (or equivalent MetaSwitch-specific experience) is highly recommended before attending this course.

Note: The course depends on each student being able to access the MetaSwitch Portal using an individual username and password. Please be sure you have a username/password to access the portal prior to attending class. You can get the required information from your CSE or account manager.

Daily schedule

This course is a 2-day course. Class hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily. The schedule for the second day includes time for individual exercises and troubleshooting to create some flexibility in planning your return flights home.

  • M1 Introduction to the MetaSphere Server Suite
    The first module introduces participants to the full MetaSphere suite. This includes:
    • Unified Messaging - Service Delivery Platform (SDP)
    • CommPortal
      • Self-care GUI
      • CommPortal Assistant
      • Incoming Call Manager (ICM)
    • Auto Attendant
    • Conferencing
    • Music On Hold
    • Privacy Defender
    • Provisioning Server
       
  • M2 Introduction to SDP Unified Messaging (UM)
    The UM platform is covered in detail including the function and architecture. This includes:
    • SDP Overview
    • SDP Services
    • Server Architecture
    • Protocols Employed
    • Call Flows
    • Other Features
       
  • M3 - MetaSphere SDP - Setup & Basic Administration
    This section dives deeper into the UM setup. This includes:
    • Setup on the MetaSwitch
    • Customer Groups
    • Class of Service
    • Administration GUI
    • Adding / Modifying SDP users
    • Call Routers
    • Basic UM Account Troubleshooting
       
  • M4 - Advanced Mailbox Administration
    This section speaks to the more advanced setup of the server platform. This includes:
    • Broadcast administration
    • Craft interface
    • Listing / importing subscribers
    • Service category administration
    • Configuring Classes of Services
       
  • M5 - Using the UM
    This section speaks to operation of the server platform. This includes:
    • Server Operation during a call
    • Using the Telephone User Interface (TUI)

  • M6 - UM SDP Troubleshooting - Logs & Alarms
    This section covers the troubleshooting tasks and tools on the platform. This includes:
