TRAINING - METASPHERE N-SERIES APPLICATION SUITE

Course Summary

The MetaSphere N-Series Application Suite course is a two day course focused on the features and function of the MetaSphere N-Series application server suite. This course is a natural segue from the MetaSphere SDP Administration and Troubleshooting course and is meant to follow it. Server applications include Auto Attendant (AA), Music On Hold (MOH), Conferencing (Conf) and Privacy Defender (PD).

This course is meant for all System Administrators and those individuals troubleshooting and/or monitoring the operation of the server suite deployed as part of their MetaSwitch solution.

Prerequisite Knowledge

Attendance of the MetaSwitch System Overview and MetaSphere SDP Administration and Troubleshooting courses (or equivalent MetaSwitch-specific experience) is highly recommended before attending this course.

Note: The course depends on each student being able to access the MetaSwitch Portal using an individual username and password. Please be sure you have a username/password to access the portal prior to attending class. You can get the required information from your CSE or account manager.

Daily schedule

This course is a 2-day course. Class hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily. The schedule for the second day includes time for individual exercises and troubleshooting to create some flexibility in planning your return flights home.

Course content

The course is split into the following modules.

  • M1 Business Groups and MetaSphere
    This module reviews the pertinent details of the operation and programming of Basic Business Groups (also known as Centrex or Hosted PBXs) from the System Overview course. Preconfigured business groups will be used for the student exercises.
     
  • M2 Auto Attendant (AA)
    The Auto Attendant feature allows business groups to configure a touch tone menu that callers navigate to reach extensions, recorded messages etc. In this module participants will learn about
    • How to set up AA for a business group
    • How the business group administrators configure their AA
    • How AA works during a call
    • General administration of the AA system
       
  • M3 Music On Hold (MOH)
    The Music On Hold feature allows a business to choose music and announcements to be played to waiting callers. In this module participants will learn about
    • How to set up MOH for a business group
    • How the business group user will configure their MOH
    • How you can provide different levels of service for your MOH customers
    • How MOH works during a call
    • General administration of the MOH system.
       
  • M4 Conferencing
    The Conference server allows our customers to deploy an economical conferencing solution for their customers. This module speaks to the setup and features of the Conference server. It covers
    • Defining the Conference server
    • The role of the Moderator
    • The role of the Participants
    • How to setup and use the feature
    • Billing for conferencing
    • Recording conferences
    • Conference server signaling flow
    • Troubleshooting the server
       
  • M5 Privacy Defender (PD)
    The Privacy Defender feature allows a customer to screen incoming calls and reject them if desired. In this module participants will learn about
    • How to set up PD for a subscriber
    • How a subscriber will use PD
    • How PD works during a call and interactions between PD and other call services
    • Hardware used for PD (and also AA and MOH)
    • General administration of the PD system.
